Mission

What I Want to Achieve

I want to convey to many people that Bitcoin is used globally.

Bitcoin’s ability to be used for cross-border payments, its fast transaction speed, and low fees are not well known in Japan. Therefore, I thought of making my own Bitcoin-themed goods and selling them to people around the world. By doing this, I hope to spark interest in Bitcoin among many people and help them gain a correct understanding of it.

In Japan, there are many skeptics about Bitcoin. My family members say things like, “Bitcoin is a scam” or “Bitcoin will eventually disappear.” By delivering my goods to people worldwide, I want to show my family that Bitcoin is genuinely used globally.

Mission

  • To show that Bitcoin is a currency actually used worldwide.
  • To inform people that handmade goods are being sold globally through Bitcoin payments.
  • To create items related to Bitcoin and Satoshi, as well as products using original fabrics, meeting the needs of Bitcoin events and shops.

Goals

  • To expand the correct understanding of Bitcoin through the creation of handmade Bitcoin goods and Bitcoin-related content (website, social media).
  • To contribute to grassroots Bitcoin activities by creating goods that cater to the needs of Bitcoin communities worldwide.

The Origin of the Brand Name “Making Waves”

I wanted to create a brand logo that evokes Japan, so I took inspiration from the wave and Mount Fuji depicted in Katsushika Hokusai’s famous ukiyo-e print, “The Great Wave off Kanagawa,” which is well-known even outside of Japan.

The phrase “Making Waves” is often used positively overseas to mean “having a significant impact” or “breaking the mold.”
However, when translated into Japanese, it conveys a negative nuance like “stirring up trouble” or “rocking the boat,” which I found to be quite reflective of Japanese culture.

Since I create handmade goods themed around Bitcoin, a global currency, I wanted to break free from traditional Japanese conventions and embrace a more global perspective.
Therefore, I chose “Making Waves” as the brand name, aligning it with the wave motif in the logo, to signify this ambition.

About “Proof of Handmade”

I value “Proof of Handmade,” which means providing evidence that I personally handcraft each item. I believe that seeing the process of creating a product can help people feel more attached to it and also answer any questions about whether the handmade items are genuinely made by Minami (me).

In today’s world, where goods are abundant and a plethora of information, including AI-generated content, is prevalent, I think there is a growing demand for services where customers can see the creator’s work process.
